Gyalpo Losar - ग्याल्पो लोछार
Gyalpo losar is the Sherpas New Year celebration. The new year celebration brings the families and the local community together.
Gyalpo losar is celebrated for 2 weeks, but the first 3 days are the most important.
On day 1, they clean the inside and outside of their homes, and bakes khapse.
On day 2, holy water is collected in silence, and close family come together.
On day 3, the sherpa community gathers in monasteries where they socialization, mantras are chanted by monks and sherpa dances are performed.
